Alert – Meet the Candidates Series Schedule (21 July 2013)

Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association’s (BPRA’s) Meet the Candidates Series continues this weekend with meetings scheduled in Nkulumane and Makokoba constituencies and another three pencilled in for ward 10, 11 and 21. In the constituency level meetings, to be held on Sunday 21 July 2013, residents in Nkulumane and Makokoba constituencies will get to hear what aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) representatives for their areas have to offer if they emerge victorious in the 31 July elections. In Makokoba, seven candidates are vying for the seat, including Tshinga Dube, a Zanu PF central committee member, Godern Moyo, the MDC-T Bulawayo Provincial Chairperson, Thabile Ndlovu, a businessman from the MDC, Thomeki Dube of Alliance Khumbula Ekhaya (AKE), Zenzo Masuku of ZAPU, Patricia Ncube of Free Zimbabwe Congress (FZC) and Peter Wilson of Mavabo Kusile Dawn (MKD). Meanwhile in Nkulumane, David Ndlovu (ZANU PF), Thamsanqa Mahlangu (MDC T), Matshobana Ncube (MDC), Memorial Dube (ZAPU),  Nkosana Mathe (MKD), Rhoda Ncube (FZC) and Happiness Mthethwa (ZANU Ndonga) are contesting for the MP seat.

Also billed for Sunday 31 July are three ward level “Meet the Candidates Series” meetings where aspiring councillors in ward 11, ward 10 and ward 21 will get an opportunity to outline their policies and promises to residents.

  

The “Meet the Candidates Series” brings together aspiring Members of Parliament and Councillors to explain to the residents of Bulawayo what they have to offer if they win elections. The meetings also provide a platform for residents to question the aspiring officials on critical issues such as service delivery and policy issues. The meetings are being held as part of BPRA’s quest to create a culture of accountability and engagement in governance in order to ensure effective service delivery and pro-people policies.
